all I want for christmas..

is this book.

That's a lie I want plenty. But I would really like this book, Richard Avedon was an amazing photographer. I love his use of fashion featuring animals (especially elephants).

I did a creative writing piece on this photo in my second year of university. I will have to try and find it... I got carried away with the skeleton.

the noodle van is coming

Pot Noodle's very British Christmas advert. A cool animation featuring a modified ice cream van driving through urban streets, with hoodys, graffiti, chavy mums and an array of other things to keep your eyes peeled for.

It would be awesome to see Pot Noodle vans around university campus's giving out hot Pot Noodles in this weather.

what else?

This Nespresso advert featuring George Clooney and John Malkovich just doesn't work for me. The extended version (this one) is much better than the TV spot. I think the idea behind it is good (God extending Clooney's life for the coffee machine) but I think the execution could be better.

thank you Google

Why didn't I know about these when I did my undergraduate degree?????
They make my masters so much easier!

monster smell

I love it when good advertising gets so big its parodied. This is the Sesame Street parody of the recent Old Spice adverts.

no sex in the city

Barnes & Noble has enlisted iconic Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker to read all about its NookColor eReader in launch spots that break nationwide today.

a lot of Pixie Lott

I went to see Pixie Lott at Preston Guildhall yesterday! I've been waiting for 6 months and she didn't disappoint. I was surprised that she did a couple of dance routines and still sounded amazing. I'm definitely jealous of her pins!

The annoying steward that pops up in most of my photos!

Word Vomit

I like looking at blogs because I think it's interesting seeing people's points of view & it's amusing when they rant. But to be honest if I see a post that's as long as an essay I don't even attempt to read it.. that's why I keep all my posts to the point. I'm not lazy - honest!

British Gas V Astro Farm

Is it just me or do the British Gas adverts remind anyone of the children's TV program Astro Farm? Quality television.

meaner stuff!

Like everyone else I dashed to the cinema to see the new Harry Potter film, which was excellent! Far better than the last one, which stole 2 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Anyway because I'm a geek I'm always intrigued to see the new cinema advertising (it's always better on the big screen) and I was very impressed with the new Skoda advert. It follows on from the cake advert, in which an entire Skoda is made out of cake. The new Skoda Fabia is made from "meaner" parts this time with a massive snake as its engine. The advert is Fallon's creation and was actually worked on by creatives who previously attended my Masters Degree. Huge Inspiration.

Tracey Emin eat your heart out

My bed covered with (pretty much) my life at the moment.

suck it and see

I've decided to do a digital marketing campaign for Fopp for my marketing project. I love Fopp, there's always some nice finds and the staff actually know what they're talking about. Let's see what magic I can make.

big idea

Every time I leave my flat I see two of these billboards. I love this typography and how simple yet striking it is. I always find myself staring at it.

Again

Love Love Love this new Footlocker advert by Sapient Nitro.! I think it makes a general audience giggle but its hilarious for the sneaker heads (people who collect trainers). A little bit embaressing that somebody compared me and my girlfriend to these two.. But what can I say - we love trainers!

My Pepsi

A short film I made for a brief at university. The idea was that "I would do anything to get a pepsi".. I wanted to avoid the obvious of climbing a mountain or having a fight so turned it on its head to.. "I'd do anything for my pepsi". The pepsi is this man's best friend and he lets his pepsi go and get married even though it causes him pain. I will be following it up with some print ads and an iphone app.

mon amour

The new Stella Artois TV spot by MOTHER. Stella are renowned for their quirky, smooth adverts and this is no exception. Set in the 60s, a woman plays with the gadgets in a man's apartment and gets swallowed up by the sofa. The man then thinks the glass of Stella is speaking to him, thinking nothing of the missing woman.

who doesn't love a golden tracksuit?

Adidas's new advert for running trainers with "slim chin"

Because I'm faaaast

lack of spice

I recently posted the new Radox men's adverts and I think it's funny if you look at the responses from Americans on YouTube. There are similarities between Radox and Old Spice in the type of humour used but I wouldn't say Radox had ripped them off. Old Spice is still a popular brand in America and even celebrity endorsements but in the UK it is a tired brand associated with old men. I'm sure plenty of us have brought our Grandads a bottle for christmas.

what more could you want?

apparently there are talks about having government advertising on the BBC. As long as we don't have to see much more of these two morons.

old spice has set the standard

the 2 new Radox adverts targeted at men. Bollywood and Japanese themed.

serious sportsmen need not apply

To celebrate the opening of PUMA Social, PUMA's tribute to the After Hours Athlete, PUMA have teamed up with VICE, infamous for their late night antics, to bring you After Hours Athletes. "late night games, from ping pong to foosball to phone numbers" - A mix of alcohol, games and partying. sounds like my kind of night.

I've just applied for tickets to the Manchester event on the 30th November!!

a new angle

It's been 4 years since Rudd Studios re-branded Channel 4.. with the cool multi-dimensional logo and idents. Now they have developed a way to incorporate the logo into different images and videos, whilst it continuously moves through different angles.

This will definitely transfer well to 3D television.

that time of year

So it's that time of year again for the D&AD student student awards. I've decided I'm going to try my hand at the Westfield integrated advertising brief and possibly the Umbro open advertising brief. It's time to get creative!

I'd like one of these please..

out with the old...

in with the new!
I have just launched my new website and blog. I previously had a blog and a separate online portfolio but it was all a bit basic. I've also started a Masters and I'm in the process of revamping my portfolio so I thought I'd spruce things up a little. I will be babbling about the same stuff as before... advertising, pop culture, art and anything that takes my fancy.
